GI Implementation

During the 2020 street reconstruction in the study area, the City of Madison has chosen a few type of GI to install for their study. To learn more, scroll down just a bit and work through the slide show which illustrates and describes each practice they have chosen to implement.

  • Curious about where these practices are being implemented?

  • Wondering how you can implement GI on private property?

Stormwater Terraces

stormwaterterrace.png

Rain Basin

  • 4 inches deep

  • Doesn’t take street water, but you will have  the option to eventually connect your roof  downspout with slight modifications

Rain Garden

  • 1 foot deep

  • Cut in curb so that it can take and treat  stormwater from the street

  • More effective at treating stormwater

Both of these GI options act as small detention basins in the terrace area between the road and the sidewalk. They both have some associated storage and reduce storm runoff until they are full.
